Our mission

Our vision

The Collierville Elementary School Counseling Program’s vision is to support all students in their academic, career, and social/emotional development so that they may become life-long learners, effective decision-makers and productive global community members.

  • We believe that all students deserve access to a comprehensive school counseling program.

  • We believe in the inherent worth and dignity of all individuals and that the diversity within our school community is to be celebrated.

  • We believe that every individual is entitled to an emotionally and physically safe and respectful learning environment.

  • We believe that each student deserves equitable access to a quality education.

  • We believe that a commitment to student success is a shared responsibility among students, parents, educators, and the community.

  • We believe that students learn best when they are faced with high expectations and are active participants in their own learning.

  • We believe that the core values of scholarship, integrity, and service should be evident in all we do.

Services

Classroom counseling consists of structured lessons designed to help ALL students attain the desired competencies and to provide ALL students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills appropriate for their developmental level. The school counseling core curriculum is delivered throughout the school’s overall curriculum and is systematically presented by school counselors.

Classroom Counseling
Individual Counseling

Group counseling, which involves a number of students working on shared tasks and developing supportive relationships in a group setting, is an efficient, effective and positive way of providing direct service to students with academic, career and social/emotional developmental issues and situational concerns. Group counseling makes it possible for more students to achieve healthier personal adjustment, cope with the stress of a rapidly changing and complex environment and learn to communicate and cooperate with others.

School counselors coordinate ongoing systemic activities designed to assist students in establishing personal goals.

Individual counseling is a short-term, solution-focused intervention designed to
meet students’ needs and concerns. Referrals can be provided to families in need of long-term support.
